MONROVIA, Aug. 8 (LINA) – In a significant move to bolster national development and foster greater tax compliance, the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has concluded an intensive tax education campaign across seven counties.

According to a press release from the LRA, the three-week initiative is aimed at enlightening taxpayers and business stakeholders on the crucial role of tax payment in supporting the country's development programs.

Throughout the campaign, the release noted that the LRA engaged with local businesses and individuals, providing comprehensive information on various tax obligations, including real property tax and customs clearing procedures.

It said that the sessions emphasized the broader benefits of tax compliance for Liberia's growth and infrastructure development. A key component of the initiative was the training provided to LRA Customs Officers and customs brokers.

According to the release, the training covered essential areas such as the ASYCUDA World system, which facilitates automated customs data processing, selectivity lanes for expedited processing, different types of declarations, and data extraction interfaces.

“These sessions aimed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of customs operations in Liberia. The response from taxpayers and business stakeholders has been overwhelmingly positive,” the release noted.

Many business owners expressed their gratitude to the LRA for the educational outreach and called for regular sessions to maintain high levels of awareness and compliance.

The LRA’s commitment to tax education underscores its dedication to creating a transparent and accountable tax system that supports national development.
