
Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism Successfully Launches the Government Town Hall” “ Initiative, alias “Kapa Kulono” (come let’s talk it…)
The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT) successfully kicked off its nationwide town hall meetings and exhibitions on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia. The well attended event marked the beginning of a series of engagements across all 15 counties under the initiative “Kakpa Kulon no” (Come Let’s Talk It…), aimed at promoting inclusiveness, accountability, transparency, and participatory governance.
The launch, held under the theme “Smart Spending, Shared Growth: Building an Inclusive Liberia under the AAID,” brought together government officials, youth and student groups, civil society organizations, community leaders, the media and members of the public. The event provided a platform for open dialogue on key developmental projects and policies under the Boakai-Koung administration.
Key Highlights of the Event:
High-Level Participation: The program was graced by Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who delivered the keynote speech and served as Chief Launcher. Other distinguished speakers , Hon. Bernard Benson, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Broadcasting, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism; Hon. Augustine K. Ngafuan, Minister of Finance and Development Planning; Hon. Borbor Jallah, Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA); and the host, Hon. Jerolinmek M. Piah, Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism
Engaging Discussions: Government officials provided updates on the economy with specific discussions on the 2025 National Budget and the AAID. Attendees had the opportunity to ask pressing questions and share feedback on policies affecting their communities.
Interactive Exhibition: The event featured an exhibition showcasing various government projects and initiatives, allowing citizens to engage directly with representatives from multiple sectors.
Commitment to Grassroots Engagement: The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to decentralizing government communication, ensuring citizens across Liberia have access to information and a voice in governance.
In his remarks, Information Minister Jerolinmek M. Piah emphasized the importance of the “Kakpa Kulon no” initiative in fostering trust and collaboration between the government and the people. “This is not just a meeting; it is a movement toward inclusive governance. We want every Liberian to feel heard and empowered to contribute to our nation’s growth,” he stated.
The Honorable Foreign Minister, Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti commended the initiative, noting that “sustainable development requires collective effort. Through open dialogue and shared responsibility, we can build a Liberia where no one is left behind.”

The Ministry will continue the town hall meetings and exhibitions across all 15 counties over the coming months, ensuring widespread citizen engagement. The feedback gathered will culminate in a national forum, where recommendations will be consolidated and presented to the government for actionable implementation.
