On the sidelines of the US-Africa business summit in Dallas, Texas, US Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, paid a courtesy visit to his excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, sr., president of the Republic of Liberia.
Ambassador Greenfield congratulated President Boakai on his actions to fight crime and immunity in the region during the meeting.
She applauded the President's recent attempts to audit crucial government departments, including the Ministry of Justice, as well as his signing of Executive Order #131, which established the office of the War and Economic Crimes Court.
Ambassador Greenfield expressed her dissatisfaction with Liberia's current challenges, including the need to strengthen democratic institutions, strengthen the rule of law, and eliminate corruption. She assured President Boakai of the United States' continued assistance in areas of mutual concern.
President Boakai thanked Ambassador Greenfield for her visit and reiterated his commitment to combating crime, strengthening government, strengthening the rule of law, and advancing the country's achievements.
The Liberian leader concluded by highlighting the importance of his government's preferences, as outlined in his farming, roads, rule of law, education, sanitation, and tourism (Arrest ) agenda, which aims at ensuring sustainable development.
