MOI Holds 3rd Edition of the Government Town Hall Initiative, “Kapa Kulono,” in Grand Bassa

Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County – The Ministry of Information (MOI) successfully hosted the 3rd Edition of its flagship Government Town Hall Program, “Kapa Kulono” (Come Let’s Talk It) – Legislative Edition, at the Fairground in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. The event brought together hundreds of citizens, including traditional leaders, youth groups, women organizations, students, members of the business community, civil society actors, and local government officials for a frank and engaging discussion on legislative governance and national development.

The Town Hall featured an interactive panel discussion with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, Sr. and the President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence. The two legislative leaders provided citizens with updates on the work of the National Legislature and addressed a wide range of concerns relating to lawmaking, legislative oversight, budgetary priorities, accountability, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and economic growth.

Citizens from Grand Bassa County and neighboring communities were afforded the opportunity to directly engage the leadership of the Legislature, ask questions, express concerns, and offer recommendations on matters affecting their daily lives. The discussions highlighted the importance of citizen participation in governance and reinforced the Government of Liberia’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive decision making.

Speaking during the program, the legislative leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening democratic governance, promoting national unity, and ensuring that the voices of ordinary Liberians remain central to the legislative process. They emphasized that effective governance is achieved when government institutions maintain open dialogue with the people they serve.
The Government Town Hall Program, “Kapa Kulono,” continues to serve as an important platform for fostering direct engagement between citizens and government officials, thereby enhancing public understanding of government policies, programs, and national development priorities.
