
Kakpa Kulon No: Government Launches Nationwide Town Hall Series to Promote Inclusive Governance
The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism will Kick-off a series of national town hall meetings and exhibitions across all 15 counties of Liberia, starting Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Monrovia.
The initiative, named The Government Town Hall alias ‘’Kakpa Kulon no’’ (Come Let’s talk it….) aims to ensure inclusiveness, accountability, transparency, access to information and participatory governance. This initiative is the Ministry bid to enhance citizen engagement and foster inclusive governance as part of it national branding efforts.
The launch event, to be held at the EJS Ministerial Complex, will be held under theTheme: "Smart Spending, Shared Growth: Building an Inclusive Liberia under the AAID”. The event will also feature updates on key developmental projects from the Boakai-Koung administration.
The chief launcher of the event is H. E Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Vice President, RL. Other Key speakers include H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sen. Abraham Darius Dillion, Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Broadcasting, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Hon. Augustine K. Ngafuan, Commissioner General, Hon. Borbor Jallah and the Host, Information Minister, Jerolinmek M. Piah.
The exhibition area will showcase various projects and initiatives from several government sectors.
This effort by the Ministry seeks to decentralize government communication and bring governance closer to the people.
The town hall meetings will bring together government officials, youth groups, student groups, civil society and community leaders to discuss critical governance and economic issues, share ideas, and provide feedback for sustainable development and policy refinement.
Key sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, tourism, investment, sanitation, agriculture and economic empowerment will be focal points, with government officials addressing pressing questions from journalists and the public.
Over the next few quarters, the Ministry will visit other counties to further engage citizens and gather feedback on government projects and policies.
This grassroots approach aims to decentralise government communication, ease access to information, and bridge the gap between the government and the people, ensuring everyone contributes to national growth and prosperity.
The government town hall meetings will culminate in a national forum, where feedback and recommendations from all sector of society will be consolidated and presented to the government for implementation.
The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism believes that fostering open dialogue and collaboration will strengthen the bond between citizens and the government, ultimately driving progress and development across Liberia.
