The Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) has Launched a new platform – "Corruption Case Tracker" (CCT), under her National Integrity Building and Anti-Corruption Program in Liberia.

Funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Embassy of Sweden in Liberia, the CCT is a groundbreaking online platform designed to enhance transparency and accountability in the handling of corruption cases by providing information about their nature, scope, location, timeline, and other details available and accessible to the public.

Giving the overview and objectives during the launch of the CCT on Wednesday October 9, 2024, at local hotel in Monrovia, CENTAL Executive Director, Anderson Miamen, explained that the primary objective of the launch is to introduce the CCT to relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, and the public.

He further indicated that the launch will demonstrate the platform's functionalities and its significance in promoting and enhancing transparency and accountability around corruption case tracking and management as well as fosters information sharing and collaboration among government agencies, civil society, and the public in the fight against corruption, especially around managing and sustaining the CCT.

He said despite significant strides taken in promoting good governance and the rule of law, Liberia continues to grapple with systemic corruption and its negative impacts on society, development, public service delivery, and other well-meaning efforts.

Additionally, Mr. Miamen noted that up-to-date, and consolidated details about various corruption cases are not readily available to the public to make informed decisions.

Mr. Miamen added that the CCT addresses this gap by offering a transparent and accessible platform that provides real-time updates on corruption cases, ensuring accountability from relevant authorities and empowering Liberians, the media, civil society and other stakeholders to monitor and meaningfully engage with the process as it enhances transparency and foster increased engagement.

"By launching the Corruption Case Tracker, CENTAL aims to empower Liberians with the knowledge and tools necessary to hold their government accountable and drive positive change in the fight against corruption, he cited.

He also noted that CENTAL aims to partner with state and non-state actors to document and highlight progress made in identifying, investigating, and prosecuting corruption cases as well as challenges that must be addressed to enhance and scale up anti-corruption and integrity building efforts in the country", CENTAL Boss concluded
