PPCC and LIBA Strengthen Partnership on ELBC’s "Liberia Today" to Boost Liberian Business Participation in Public Procurement

The Director of Communications Mr. Nathan N. Bengu, and the Director of Training of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) Ms. Maude A. Saye together with the President of the Liberia Business Association Mr James M. Strother, (LIBA), appeared on the ELBC program , “The Liberia Today” to promote their ongoing partnership aimed at empowering Liberian owned businesses to participate more effectively in national bidding processes and secure government contracts.

This joint engagement reflects the strong collaboration between PPCC and LIBA to expand awareness, provide training, and ensure local businesses understand how to navigate Liberia’s public procurement ecosystem.

Key Highlights from the Discussion

1. Strengthening Awareness on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System
PPCC officials emphasized the critical role of the e-GP platform in modernizing procurement processes. They explained how the digital system enhances transparency, minimizes human influence, and creates equal opportunities for all bidders.
Liberian businesses were encouraged to register and actively use the platform to access procurement notices, prepare bids, and monitor opportunities in real time

2. Promoting the 25% Allocation for Liberian-Owned (Domestic) Businesses, Including 5% for Women-Owned Enterprises

The panel highlighted the government’s strengthened commitment to empowering local businesses or Domestic Businesses through the mandated 25% procurement allocation exclusively for Liberian-owned or domestic businesses.
Within this provision, 5% is specifically reserved for women-owned businesses, ensuring that women entrepreneurs are intentionally included in national economic growth.

3. Joint Training and Awareness Program – November 25
As part of the PPCC–LIBA partnership, the institutions announced a major capacity-building program scheduled for November 25, which will focus on:

  • Helping vendors understand procurement procedures
  • Offering practical guidance on preparing competitive bids
  • Addressing common challenges that lead to disqualification 

This event aims to provide hands-on support to vendors, women-owned businesses, and new entrants to the procurement space.

The President of LIBA reiterated that strengthening Liberian enterprises is central to national growth and praised the partnership with PPCC for providing the necessary tools and knowledge to make local businesses more competitive.

PPCC officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a transparent, accessible, and inclusive procurement system, one that gives Liberian businesses the capacity and confidence to participate and succeed.
