Ministry Of Education Initiates Process For Renovation Of Eight Public Schools In Grand Gedeh County

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Grand Gedeh County Office has begun the processes leading to the renovation of eight public schools across the 5 education districts in the county.

The process began with the visitations and general assessment and inspection of the schools beginning with the Konobo Education District.

The first day of assessment was conducted by a team from the County Education Office led by the County Education Officer Elijah G Freeman, Nyonkpao Collins, the County Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Jamima Quayee, the procurement officer respectively.

Making the disclosures during the assessment tour, Freeman mentioned that the renovation works will be done in two separate phases, where the first three schools including the Beh Town Elementary School in Cavalla District, the Deah Memorial Academy in Konobo District and Jarbah Town Elementary School in Tchien District, will be funded from the county’s education allotments.

Freeman added that the second phase will consider five schools, which include the Breezerville Elementary School in Cavalla District, the Gbarkehzon Elementary and Jr. High School in Gbarzon, the Zwedru Kindergarten School in Tchien District, the Jarwodee Elementary School in Putu and the Konobo Central High School, which will be renovated under the Ministry of Education special projects.

Freeman indicated that the visitation and inspection processes will be followed by identification, scrutiny and vetting of qualified contractors to begin the renovation works.

He indicated that there will be improvement in the county education system under his administration as CEO of Grand Gedeh County and called on all school administrators, principals, teaching staff and support staff to value result - based jobs in order to achieve the government's anticipated outcomes of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) with regards to the pillar on education.

The delegation in Konobo District was received by Konobo District Education Officer Martin L Wea and Konobo Central High School principal Belleh J Wulu. Both administrators commended the government through the county education office for tremendous works in improving the education system of the county.

They assured the CEO of collaboration and teamwork in moving government's developmental agenda forward.

The assessment at the various schools considered the conditions of the roofs, ceiling, floors, conditions of the classrooms, seating capacities, school environment, water systems, to mention a few.
