House Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa has called on educators in Liberia to be honest and sincere in awarding degrees to students at the tertiary level, saying it is a pragmatic step in transforming the educational sector of Liberia.

Speaking at the launch of a Joint National Educational Stakeholders Retreat on September 6, 2024, in Ganta, Nimba County, the Grand Kru County District #2 Representative urged administrators to ensure that students graduating from universities and colleges are well-prepared and competent.

Cllr. Koffa highlighted the proliferation of new educational institutions across the country and questioned whether Liberia has adequately assessed the capability and credibility of its graduates compared to their counterparts in other regions.

He however stressed the importance of maintaining high standards and quality in education to ensure the nation's graduates are competitive on a regional and global scale.

Meanwhile, Speaker Koffa praised the Joint Legislative Education Committee for organizing the National Education Stakeholders Retreat, which he believes will play a crucial role in addressing the challenges facing the sector.

He expressed optimism that the retreat would lead to meaningful discussions and reforms to strengthen the education system in Liberia.

The National Education Stakeholders Retreat brought together key players, including educators, policymakers, and administrators, to deliberate on strategies for improving the quality and standards of education in Liberia.
