NIR Appoints Sundaygar Dearboy As National ID Ambassador

 By T. Ezekiel Geeplay

The National Identification Registry (NIR) has appointed decorated Liberian musician, Mr. S. Michael Davis, alias Sundaygar Dearboy as its National Identification Card (ID) Ambassador.

In his letter of appointment, the NIR charged Mr. Davis “The National ID Ambassador” to promote its activities through creative means and social mobilization, amongst others to help the Registry achieve its goals.

The Registry then called on Mr. Davis to bring to this new position his dynamism that characterizes his activities and personality throughout the country.

In response, the popular Liberian musician thanked the Executive Director of the National Identification Registry, Mr. Andrew Peters for recognizing him among hundreds of Liberian musicians for the position of NIR National ID Ambassador.

Mr. Davis then promised to use his God's given talent to travel across the country and sell the image of the National Identification Registry by encouraging Liberian and foreign residents to get enrolled into the National Biometric Identification System (NBIS).

The National Identification Registry is an autonomous agency under the Executive Branch of Government which operates and manages the NBIS of Liberia.

The NIR is responsible to enroll the entire population into the NBIS; design, produce, and issue National Identification Cards, each with a unique number called "the identifier" to everyone enrolled into the NBIS.

It can be recalled that President Joseph N. Boakai Sr. in his first State of the Nation Address pledged to strengthen the National Identification Registry, build the needed capacity to be able to capture the comprehensive biometric data of citizens needed to feed all agencies including the National Elections Commission.
