UNDP Commences Installation Of Solar Panels At Grand Kru Service Center

BARCLAYVILLE CITY, July 16 (LINA) – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has begun the installation of 52 solar panels and other electrical accessories at the Grand Kru County Service Center in Barclayville City.

Speaking in an interview with the Liberia New Agency on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Barclayville, the lead technician for the project Mr. Osman Khalid said the project is an extension of the United Nations Development Program to Grand Kru County center.

Osman Khalid said the project is part of UNDP's efforts to support sustainable development in Liberia, particularly in remote and underprivileged areas.

He added that the project reflects the commitment of the UNDP to provide sustainable energy solutions that contribute to poverty reduction and improve the quality of life for staff at the Grand Kru Service Center.

Also speaking, the Coordinator at the Service Center, Alexander Weah described the installation of the solar panels at the Service Center as a significant step towards addressing the longstanding issue of electricity at the facility.

Weah indicated that with the installation of the solar panels, the Service Center will now have a reliable source of electricity, allowing improved service provision and better functioning of various offices at the center.

According to him, it is expected to pave the way for further development initiatives and improve living conditions in the county.

Weah praised the UNDP for their commitment to supporting the development efforts of Grand Kru County, stressing that the provision of the items will enable the service center to offer faster and more accurate services to the people.

“This support will undoubtedly contribute to improving the overall functioning of the service center and its ability to meet the needs of the county's residents,” Weah pointed out.

Weah highlighted the importance of digital technology in today's world, citing that the accessories will play a significant role in advancing the county's development agenda.

According to him, with the donation and installation of the 52 solar panels, laptops, printers, and scanners to the Service Center, it will be equipped to handle administrative tasks, facilitate communication, and provide essential services to the community.

He emphasized that the collaboration between the UNDP and Grand Kru County is a testament to the institution’s shared commitment to improving the lives of the people and promoting sustainable development.

Weah concluded that the UNDP's contribution is seen as a valuable investment in the county's progress, as he expressed his sincerest gratitude for the institution’s ongoing support.

Recently, the United Nations Development Program presented 52 solar panels, inverters and several electrical accessories to Grand Kru County Superintendent Madam Antoinette Worwlee Nimely for the upgrading of the County Service Center.
