Law Reform Chairman Wants Liberians Respect Rule of Law

The Chairman of the Law Reform Commission (LRC), Cllr. Boakai Kanneh has underscored the need for Liberians to respect the Rule of law in the country.
Chairman Boakai Kanneh stated that the rule of law is the fundamental basis for civilized people and a nation, noting that without abiding by the laws governing the land, it could be difficult to foster economic growth and development in the nation.
Speaking on a local talk show in Monrovia, Chairman Kanneh emphasized that if the rule of law is not being adhered to, it makes it impossible to regulate government policies to drive development activities in any part of the country.
The LRC boss reechoed the need for Liberians to uphold the laws governing them and the nation in order to develop a good governance system to move the country forward.
Chairman Kanneh assured the public that the LRC is available to assist members of the Legislature to craft laws to transform the development of Liberia.
He indicated that making laws are good to address certain issues confronting the state but those laws shouldn’t come in conflict with existence laws.
Cllr. Kanneh disclosed the need to amend parts of the Liberian Constitution which failed to address current realities facing the nation.
Chairman Kanneh highlighted the need for lawyers, and policymakers to hold discussions surrounding issues relating to the Liberian Constitution to meet up with the reality in the 21st century.
