South Korea Pledges Scholarships and Boost to Rice Production in Liberia!! June 7, 2024 - Update From South Korea! Liberia's Information Minister, Hon. Jerelimick Piah, is reporting that South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has assured his counterpart, H.E. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, of his government's commitment to supporting Liberia in the areas of rice production and the provision of scholarships for Liberian students. Minister Piah told our Executive Mansion Reporter, Sylvester Choloplay , through a telephone call that the South Korean President has pledged his government's support towards the Boakai-Koung's ARREST Agenda, which focuses on Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism. According to Minister Piah, these promises were made when President Boakai made specific calls during a one-on-one discussion with the Korean President, following the 2024 Korea-Africa Submit. The Liberian Information Minister said, the South Korean Government made special emphasis with huge interest in Liberia's rice production, scholarship provisions, technology, and infrastructural developments. Though the Liberian Government has not announced any specific agreements yet in monetary value of any exchange from the 2024 Korea - Africa Summit, but President Boakai, on behalf of Liberia, has extended gratitude to President Yeol and the Korean Government for the promises and interest in Liberia, looking forward for meaningful and impactful bilateral agreements. Several heads of African States attended the submit - lasted from June 4-5, 2024 in Seoul, South Korea, with individual leaders pushing their country's agenda at the summit. Over the past four decades, South Korea has demonstrated remarkable economic growth and global integration, becoming a high-tech industrialized economy. In the 1960s, its GDP per capita was comparable to levels in poorer countries in Africa and Asia. By 2004, South Korea had joined the trillion-dollar club of world economies. As the developed world seeks cooperation from Africa to tap into its vast natural resources, South Korea has now joined the effort, beginning with the Korea-Africa Summit.
