VP Koung Affirms Gov't's Commitment To Embark On Lasting Developments

Vice President Jeremiah K. Koung has assured diaspora Liberians that there will be massive transformational initiatives under the current Liberian administration, assuring that the Government of Liberia is taking all necessary steps to deliver key developmental initiatives for the country.

According to him, this government is focused on achieving its developmental agenda, as promised during the election.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with diaspora Liberians in Philadelphia on Saturday, March 8, 2025, VP Koung noted that if the government doesn't accomplish its key promises, the citizens have the power to either retain or remove the government from power.

"We will do our best to deliver, be assured. We are putting things together, and at the end, you will see the country picking up. I was one person who said, during the campaign, "if this government does not deliver, vote us out", Veep Koung said.

Commenting on corruption which was flagged by some diaspora Liberians in the United States of America, the Vice President stated that corruption is one the gigantic problems which has retarded the progress of the country, and that it is time that Liberians come together to fight the scourge.

He added that the present administration will utilize this opportunity to mitigate corruption, stating that to curtail corruption and restore sanity in government, the Boakai-led government has taken some giant steps towards the fight against corruption.

Koung called for a collaborative effort to fix the country, saying that this is not time for politics, rather a time to push the country forward, lauding other media institutions for flagging missteps and corruption in government, some of which the president has taken drastic actions against those who are bent on siphoning public funds.

"We are willing to listen. No man is an island. The president is not everywhere, so there are things you know that we do not know. Lift the issues, and some of the issues you have raised, the president has taken actions by firing some people. Continue to lift them", he stated.

Remarking on the peaceful protest staged by some Liberians ahead of the meeting, the VP stated that he values the voices of all citizens because as a vice president, he is a leader for all Liberians.

"I received information before the Town Hall meeting that a few of our citizens were planning to protest, which motivated me to attend and listen to their grievances. I applaud the courage of six of our citizens who protested, and I urge them to remain civil in their engagements. I am a leader for all Liberians and will always be willing to hear the plight of our people," the Liberian Vice President commented.

He also thanked the Liberian Association of Pennsylvania (LAP) and the Union of Liberian Association in the Americas (ULAA) for the organization of the successful town hall meeting, expressing his delight by the warm reception, saying that he looks forward to having more of these engagements with Liberian citizens across the United States of America.
