UNDP Urges MYS To Prioritize Youth Development For Nation Building

MONROVIA, June 27 (LINA) – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Volunteer Officer, Mr. Narendra Mishra, has stressed the need for more youthful developmental activities aimed at enhancing the growth and progress of the nation.
Officer Mishra said youth development is pivotal to nation-building, and as such the ministry needs to consider strengthening youth programs through collaborative partnership with other institutions in and outside of Liberia.
The statement of the UNDP official was published on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The UNDP Officer paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry on Tuesday, June 26, 2024, as he emphasized that partnership with other organizations is indeed a positive step towards achieving President Boakai’s priority of youth development and programs.
He added, involving organization like UNDP and engagement with young people would create opportunities for them to develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities.
He noted that if innovative programs for young people are initiated the young people will become active and responsible citizens which will contribute positively to the communities and societies.
Responding to Officer Mishra, the Deputy Minister for Youth Development, J. Byrant McGill welcomed the opportunity to partner with other institutions and expressed reliance that the collaboration and partnership will adequately address the unique needs and challenges faced by young people.
He stressed the need for the development of new ideas as a solution to empower the citizenry.
Minister McGill further highlighted the need to prioritize youth programs, investing in the future of the nation and ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the necessary working tools and support to thrive and make positive impact in society.
