Pres. Boakai Names London School Asst. Professor As Orator For 177th Independence

MONROVIA July 16 (LINA) – President Joseph N. Boakai has named London School of Economics and Political Science Assistant Professor, Dr. Robtel Neajai Pailey  as National Orator for Liberia’s 177th Independence Day celebrations.

Addressing the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) regular press briefing on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in Monrovia, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah stated that the 177th National Independence Day Orator comes with over 20 years of professional experience in academia, media and public sector.

Minister Piah added that the 177th Independence Day Orator is an Assistant Professor of International, Social and Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom.

Minister Piah disclosed that the Independence Day celebration will begin on Thursday, with the Golden Image Awards, which will be held at the Monrovia City Hall.

The MICAT boss added that on Friday, July 19, a Thanksgiving and Intercessory Prayer service for the Islamic faith will be held at the 17th Street Mosque in Sinkor, adding that on the same day at 4:00 PM, there will be an investiture ceremony at the Ellen Johnson Ministerial complex in Congo Town. The activities continue on Saturday with Sports Day at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex.

“On Sunday, July 21st, there will be another Thanksgiving and Intercessory service for Christians at the Liberty Christian Center in Johnsonville,” Minister Piah noted.

Minister Piah narrated that on Friday July 26, at 6:00 AM there will be the hosting of the National Flag at the Barclay Training Center where the national colors will be honored and a parade involving military and paramilitary troops will be held.

He emphasized that at 11:00 AM, the official program in observance of Liberia’s 177th Independence Day will be held at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in Monrovia, while on Saturday, July 27, the Children’s Socialization Day program will be held across the 15 counties in Liberia.

Minister Piah revealed that the Children Socialization Day will be organized by the Office of the First Lady of Liberia Kartumu Boakai in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
