Monrovia, November 4, 2025 โ The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, has officially launched the National Agriculture Fair (NAF) 2025, reaffirming the governmentโs unwavering commitment to empowering farmers, boosting local production, and achieving national food self-sufficiency.
The fair is set to take place in Ganta, Nimba County, from December 9โ13, 2025, under the inspiring theme โEmpowering Farmers, Enriching the Nation.โ The event will unite farmers, agripreneurs, youth, researchers, and development partners through exhibitions, policy dialogues, and capacity-building sessions to strengthen innovation and productivity across Liberiaโs agricultural value chain.
The five-day event will open with an Extension Conference, where agricultural officers from all counties will review achievements, address challenges, and set priorities for the year ahead. Participants will also tour Liberiaโs first-ever National Cocoa Seed Garden in Beeplay, Nimba County, a landmark site housing over 19,000 elite hybrid cocoa seedlings that symbolize Liberiaโs growing investment in crop diversification and sustainable agriculture.
The fair will be attended by His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia; the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), QU Dongyu; the President of Tuskegee University, the first historically Black university in the United States; and several international and national development partners.
Dr. Nuetah emphasized that the fair will showcase Liberiaโs vast agricultural potential, highlighting local innovation, value addition, and agribusiness development. โWhen we empower farmers with the right tools and support, we empower the entire nation,โ he stated.
A highlight of the fair will be the National Farmersโ Awards, recognizing outstanding individuals and cooperatives for their achievements in productivity, innovation, and sustainability.
Reviving this historic national tradition marks a significant milestone in the modernization of Liberiaโs agriculture sector, celebrating the resilience, creativity, and hard work of the nationโs farmers who continue to drive Liberiaโs progress toward food security and shared prosperity.
