Sierra Leone Craves Liberia Alliance To Strengthen Foreign Service Institutes

MONROVIA, July 30 (LINA) – The Director General and Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, Dr. Victoria M. Sulimani has emphasized the importance of leveraging Liberia's extensive experience in the diplomatic circle aimed at helping Sierra Leone's new Diplomatic Academy produce seasoned diplomats.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated July 29, 2024, the Sierra Leonean diplomat made the call during a courtesy visit at the Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute in Monrovia.

During her courtesy call, Dr. Sulimani of the Sierra Leone Diplomatic Academy and Mr. Reginald B. Goodridge Sr., Director General of the Gabriel L. Dennis Foreign Service Institute of Liberia engaged in fruitful discussions aimed at strengthening the bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and Liberia.

The statement added that they exchanged ideas on the development and operation of their respective Foreign Service Institutes, and how to collaborate through exchange of ideas in strengthening their respective institutions.

Dr. Sulimani shared insights on Sierra Leone's Diplomatic Academy, established in 2023, which focuses on training staff from various government ministries and agencies.

"We are committed to enhancing our diplomatic and cooperative engagements for the benefit of our nation" Dr. Sulimani noted.

In response, Mr. Reginald B. Goodridge Sr. provided an overview of Liberia's Foreign Service Institute which was established in 1951, and its comprehensive training programs.

The Liberian diplomat assured his Sierra Leonean counterpart of Liberia’s commitment and willingness to strengthen and enhance diplomatic ties with Sierra Leone through collaborations and partnership.
