President Boakai Launches Digital Village Program In Lofa County
President Joseph N. Boakai has officially launched Liberia's first Digital Village Program in Lofa County, intended to bridge the digital divide, promote inclusive development, and accelerate the country's digital transformation agenda.
The program is being implemented through a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA), and Huawei, a Chinese Technology Company.
Information Minister Jerolinmek M. Piah said the Digital Village Program is expected to provide reliable high-speed internet connectivity, conduct digital skill training, and deliver a wide range of other technology-enabled services to undeserved communities across the country.
He spoke at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Performing the official launch, President Boakai commanded the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication and the Liberia Telecommunication Authority for their vision and dedication in driving the country's digital agenda.
The President made specific reference to the former LTA Chairman, Mr. Kamara and Post and Telecommunications Minister Kromah for co-founding and championing the initiative.
While thanking the Liberian Leader for his unwavering support and visionary leadership, Minister Kromah said the Digital Village Program will not only connect communities, but will also create new opportunities for education, commerce and innovation in rural Liberia.
