MoJ Kicks Off Three-Day Inter-Agency Seminar For Prosecutors, Others

MONROVIA, Aug. 08(LINA) – The Ministry of Justice Prosecution Department, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, commenced a three-day inter-agency seminar for prosecutors and other justice actors across Liberia.

The seminar, which is currently ongoing in Paynesville, brings together members of Liberia's legal and Rule of Law communities, such as County Attorneys- Prosecutors, Investigators, Prosecutors Monitors, and staffers of the Prosecution Department of the Ministry of Justice as well as international partners.

At the start of the seminar, Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald Tweh welcomed and commended the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), all prosecutors and Justice Actors for attending the workshop.

He further said that the workshop is “an effort to pursue justice and professional excellence," for the Rule of Law within the Republic of Liberia.

Minister Tweh noted, “The participants of this workshop are a distinguished group comprising not only our dedicated prosecutors but also investigators, prosecution monitors, and prosecution department staff".

“Additionally, we are fortunate to have our colleagues from the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), and the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA). Your participation symbolizes a unified front in our pursuit of justice", the Justice Minister said.

At the same time, Cllr. Augustine C. Fayiah, Solicitor General of the Republic of Liberia, said the workshop will enhance Prosecutors’ skills in writing indictments, developing investigative skills, and promoting ethical conduct, among others.

He also stressed that it supports inter-agency cooperation, working jointly to minimize mistakes in law enforcement.

The program, which began on August 7, is expected to end on August 9, 2024.
