Min. Piah Reaffirms Government’s Stance On Development

MONROVIA, June 17 (LINA) – The Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) Jerolinmek M. Piah, has reaffirmed government's commitment to fostering partnership with international organizations and partners to attract investment to Liberia.

The MICAT boss disclosed the approval of a development package from the World Bank in the amount of US$30 million for Liberia.

"I think you are aware that our governance accountability program, which is an initiative of the Boakai administration, just got US$30 million approved by the World Bank. The Government of Liberia has begun to gain the trust of international partners,” the Liberia Government spokesman asserted.

Speaking Monday when he appeared as guest on the state-owned radio, Minister Piah assured the public that the US$30 million will be used by the government to foster its national development agenda in line with the government’s ARREST agenda.

"The international people see us fit, you know, to invest their taxpayer’s money in us. It is because we are doing the right thing," he added.

Minister Piah indicated that in terms of development, the Boakai government will do all it can to implement development in an accountable and transparent manner.

He further said that the administration has made significant strides and will do its best to get interest from international partners or donors to Liberia for a better country.

Minister Piah referenced the memoranda signed recently with the Korean government during the Africa-Korea Business Summit in Seoul, citing that the Boakai led government has gained the trust of the Korean President and Government.

The Liberian Information Minister narrated that the empowerment will be done through Korean private companies, which according to him, will be a huge investment for the country.
