LDEA Grand Kru Detachment Refutes Allegation Of Harassment Against Peaceful Citizens

The Commander of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency in Grand Kru County, Michael Gipply has denied claims that some of his officers are harassing peaceful citizens.

Speaking to reporters in Barclayville, on September 2, 2024, Michael Gipply described the information in the public space as false and misleading, adding that his officers are very professional in the execution of their respective duties within the County.

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency Grand Kru Detachment Commander reaction comes in the wake of complaints from citizens on the officers’ constant harassment of peaceful citizens, believed to be miners.

The miners reported that the LDEA Officers made away with their unscaled gold, including some undisclosed amount of money.

According to Micheal Gipply, the Act establishing the Agency is to combat illegal drugs offenses and ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens.

He emphasized that the agency operates with the highest level of professionalism and is lawful in adherence to the code of conduct in the execution of its duties.

"The Detachment recognizes the importance of protecting the rights and dignity of all individuals and is committed to upholding the law and conducting its operations within the confines of the Constitution of Liberia,” Gipply said.

Commander Gipply encouraged the public to report instances of violation against their rights as he assured the public that appropriate actions will be taken to address any wrongdoing and ensure accountability in line with Government’s ARREST agenda.

Michael Gipply said, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency Grand Kru Detachment remains dedicated to its mission of eradicating drug-related crimes and promoting peace and security in Grand Kru County.
