IMO Rep. Craves Development Of Liberia’s Water Resource

MONROVIA, Aug.8 (LINA) – Liberia Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization, Robert Wilmont Kpadeh, has stressed the importance of water resources to Liberia’s economy, underscoring its potential of job creation.
Mr. Kpadeh indicated on his official Facebook page that Liberia is blessed with seas, rivers, lakes, Islands, waterfalls, and lagoons which according to him has the potential of generating millions annually into the economy of the country.
The Liberia IMO Representative added that the named water resources have the capacity to create more jobs for citizens and spur economic development.
Mr. Kpadeh asserted that the vision of the Liberia Maritime Authority is to tap into the "Blue Economy" with the aim of fostering growth and development in the country.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that he is currently in Zurich, Switzerland, in continuation of his Blue Economy Study tour, where he visited the famous Zurich Lake to see how it is being utilized.
"I am here and watching hundreds of luxury boats crammed the lake with tourists on board and relishing the nature of water under a scorching ray of sun”, he stated.
Mr. Kpadeh revealed that his friends from the Swiss Maritime Bureau told him that around Lake Zurich are a lot of restaurants, bars, hotels, and boutiques which are generating millions into the hospitality industry there.
"We are studying and asking our colleagues questions on how they have built their Blue economies. Hopefully, we are getting lofty answers that will help us to put Liberia on the path of a burgeoning Blue Economy" he stated.
