The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation NASSCORP in collaboration with the Civil Service Agency CSA have embarked on a weeklong pre-retirement counseling and data collection exercise across the country.

Addressing prospective government retirees in Gbarnga, Bong County on Friday September 6, 2024, CSA Assistant Director for Welfare Mr. Peter N. Folleh said, as human resource arm of the government the CSA is providing counseling and collecting data from those who have served government up to 60 and 65 years of age.

Mr. Folleh added that once a person works for the government and has reached the retirement age the current exercise will affect them which according to him, is intended for beneficiaries to sit home and rest following their years of service.

Categorizing the various groups of retirees, the CSA executive noted that another group of retirees is those with ill health who automatically get retired because of their conditions.

"This exercise is meant to adjust and prepare the minds as you will be taken from one payroll (government) to the other (NASSCORP). NASSCORP will be taking over from the government, but the salary structure will not be the same," he clarified.

He further mentioned that the government appreciates retirees through a handshake of a special package. According to him, the current retirees are still on government salary and will remain until October 2024.

"For those who have not benefited from the handshake, their names will be written and forwarded to CSA for onward action," he stated.

At the same time Mr. Folleh disclosed that his team is part of the exercise to collect pieces of information including letter of retirement, NASSCORP Identification Card, contact numbers and passport size picture respectively.

For her part Agnes L.K. Kolubah, one of the pre retirees lauded the government for the exercise but was also quick to point out that she hasn't received a retirement letter though she is still receiving government salary.

At the gathering, NASSCORP partners including Liberia Bank for Development and Investment LBDI and mobile money were present for beneficiaries to select their preferred choice of payment of the benefits.

Meanwhile, NASSCORP Assistant Director General for Insurance Madam Mahdea George Belleka, lauded the pre retirees for their dedicated services to the nation as she informed them that NASSCORP number will be issued and validated after every two years
